Engine Mount Component Package
This Soil Probe Sampling option has five main components to it:
- Cylinder Probe
- Pump and Mount Kit
- Valve
- Filter Assembly
- Reservoir
Pump
The pump is a 11GPM engine mounted pump that is controlled electronically via an electric clutch that is enabled on and off from a switch mounted inside the cab of the Probe Truck. This switch is generally mounted right above the valve handle on a piece of plate steel, or on a convenient location on the dash.
Vehicle and engine specific pump mount kits are required for mounting of the pump to your vehicle. (note: mount kits are only available for domestic vehicles)
Cylinder Probe
Standard package comes with a 42" two stage probe. 30 and 52" probes are also available.
The 42" 2-stage cylinder probe when mounted and driven correctly will allow the operator to extract samples at a depth of up to 48". It is manufactured with a quick tach roll pin 3/4" from the end of its shaft to enable quick attaching and unattaching soil sampling probe ends.
The operator simply engages the engine driven hydraulic pump, pulls down on the valve handle and the Probe cylinder extends through the floor of the probe truck, into the ground to the desired depth and retracts back into the cab of the probe truck. The operator then pulls off the probe sample end, deposits the soil sample in a sample container, moves to the next sample spot and repeats the process. Typical cycle times for extension are 5-6 seconds, and retraction time is much faster at only 2-3 seconds. (times may vary depending on setup).
Valve
The valve is a four way open centered valve with detent on the return cycle for automatic returns to the retracted position. The valve is located next to the probe on a piece of 1/8" plate steel and is in easy reach of the operator.
